Roughly 500,000 years after the Big Bang…the cosmos began to finally cool down and all of those sub-atomic particles finally stopped slamming into each other at high rates of speed…thus Hoosier Financial Independence was born. Kidding, that is how the universe was formed. Duh.
My reasons for starting this blog are way more boring: I like to see cause and effect. I like to see results. When I started on the FI path, I was terrified (still am), but when I started seeing my bank account go up and my debts go down, I became addicted. Plus, my girlfriend is probably tired of hearing my rants and numbers/calculations, so I figured I’d put them on the Internet for everyone to see.
Hoosier Financial Independence was born from the mind of a man surrounded (or used to be) by people who thought living in debt was normal and working until you died was the norm. Worse yet, I know people who can’t retire and people my age (30) who do not have savings accounts or retirement funds set up and continue to spend money frivolously without realizing they are on a financial suicide path. I know this because, I too, was on this path.
There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.
I truly believe that Hoosiers, and most people, are great assets to this Earth. As tough as it is to keep that belief true (especially with my experiences in my former profession) I believe that more Hoosiers can be happier if they just start to think a little more financially savvy. Once again, I have just begun this process a little over a year ago, but I know my life from 3 years ago to where I am today is literally 100% better financially, socially, and physically. I want to share my experiences, stories, and thoughts with other people who grew up like I did.
This site will not go into meticulous numbers as many others already write those out so well. There is no way I can rewrite that information any better. I hope to throw my own spin on life, Financial Independence, and everything else that falls into that category.
Join me on this journey through life and trying to make the best of it and we will share beers along the way.
So it begins.
